It’s Time to Start Shopping for Your Fall Airline Deals

We are quickly getting closer to fall season beginning in September and airline travel should follow suit.  Prices are expected to drop from August to Labor Day.

According to various reports, domestic round-trip fares should drop approximately 7% in comparison to peak pricing in June.  Adding to that, it’s expected there will be another 5.5% drop in prices that will hit in August and again in September.

The overall pricing is pretty typical for this time of year as peak travel is dedicated to the month of July. As July moves on, tickets should start reflecting off-peak pricing.  Prices, in general, start falling during the summer and then to the end of the year.

October Plateau

In October, prices start leveling off and then increase by approximately 2% in November which is attributed to the busiest travel time of the year, Thanksgiving.  That said, experts all agree that fall is the most inexpensive time to travel.

Not only are fares much lower, but the level of travelers seem to decrease from major summer attractions and temperatures start to change, depending on where you live or where you are traveling to.  As your kids are heading back to school, you are going to get some incredible breaks on air travel, especially if you travel internationally.

Another factor that is in play is the grounding of the Max 737 that the airlines anticipated but are struggling to make things work.  The airlines managed to survive this grounding through the summer and will probably fare very well for the rest of the year.

If you are planning to visit family and friends in other states or other countries this fall, this is the perfect time to start shopping for the best prices.  The airlines have many factors in place including the day you travel and whether it’s a weekend or middle of the week.  Doing your homework now can save you a great deal of money when you head off your Thanksgiving feast!
